Lucy Casson
Lucy Casson is a British sculptor and installation artist renowned for creating whimsical, narrative-driven works from an imaginative blend of found and recycled materials such as discarded tin, wire, wood, and ceramics. Drawing inspiration from a keen observation of human and animal behavior, she creates "small worlds of cartoon beings" and quirky characters that capture ephemeral moments with a sense of humor and pathos.
Her practice extends from intimate gallery sculptures held in collections like the V&A and British Council to large-scale public art commissions, where her figurative works engage the community and transform public spaces. Since 2012 she has worked closely with the celebrated Alder Hay Children's Hospital in Liverpool, creating numerous pieces of sculpture and designs for the interior.
Lucy says "I am always pleased when a piece is taken to heart by the people around and in the case of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital my fox character sitting on a bench has been given a diamanté collar and is stroked on the nose for good luck."
